
The National Union Of Hotel, Bar & Restaurant Workers, Peninsular Malaysia (NUHBRW) is a sector-wide trade union registered under the Trade Union Act 1959. It was established on 3 January 1963.
The primary aim of the union is to fight for decent wages, working conditions and employment security for its members.
The union has organised hotels such as Shangri-La Hotels, Crystal Crown Hotel, Grand Dorsett Subang, Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort and others.
In 2020-2022, the Covid-19 pandemic adversely impacted workers in hotels, bars and restaurants. The NUHBRW estimated 10,000 hotel workers had been laid off. The Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners stated that approximately 20 hotels in the national capital were closed.
