National Union of Petroleum and Chemical Industry Workers Peninsular Malaysia (NUPCIW) is an industrial union that represents workers in petroleum and chemical sectors.
NUPCIW signs collective agreements with companies to increase workers’ wages and benefits. The union signs collective agreements with FGV Holdings Bhd Group, BASF, Esso-ExxonMobil and others.
NUPCIW often organize trainings relating to Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act and collective bargaining for its members.
Dato’ Abdul Halim is the secretary general of NUPCIW since 1986. He is the president of Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC)(2016-). He represented workers at International Labour Organisation (ILO), National Labour Advisory Council (NLAC), SOCSO, EPF and others.
